René's response

“Dear Jeanne,

Hidden by the hair, the scalp is too often forgotten. But it's a living part of our body!Underneath your beautiful, shiny hair is a scalp that needs just as much attention!

Even if you don't necessarily feel any discomfort, the skin is there. And it needs care, just like the rest of the body.Paradoxically, it is an area that is very exposed: hair dryers, chemical dyes, excessive shampooing, and even pollution. The scalp can be damaged without us even realizing it.

It is therefore important to look after it.And it's the scalp that regulates your hair.Beautiful hair comes first and foremost from a healthy and toned scalp that breathes. So here are a few tips on how to care for it better.”

René's advice

Tell me who you are.

You'll have to choose a treatment that suits your scalp. Depending on the season, age, our environment, or simply our genes, we can have very different scalp types. Some scalps are overactive: they overreact, or experience itching, irritation and discomfort. In this case, the scalp must be soothed. Others are underactive, lacking vitality and tone, i.e. there is not enough microcirculation. In this case, the scalp must be stimulated.

Hot oils, cold oils, essential oils.

To take action in both cases, we recommend treatments with an essential oil base, as they are powerful and natural ingredients. Warm oils, such as lavender and orange in our Complexe 5 scalp treatment, stimulate and invigorate. Cold oils, such as mint and eucalyptus in our Astera scalp treatment, soothe and purify.

Let's get moving!

Massaging the scalp helps the essential oils to penetrate the hair roots and promotes the oxygenation of the scalp’s vascular system. A massage also has an immediate relaxing effect. It relieves tension and relaxes the nerve endings. Before shampooing your hair, apply the appropriate plant-based essential oil concentrate directly to your scalp and gently massage with your fingertips. Move from the back of the neck to the top of the head if you want to stimulate, and vice versa, from the top of the head to the back of the neck if you want to soothe. For an optimal massage, you should feel the skin of your scalp move under your fingertips. And it feels great to boot!

Adapt to your scalp.

You should choose your shampoo according to your scalp and not, as everyone thinks, according to your hair type. If you have an oily scalp or one that tends to be oily, choose a mild shampoo for frequent use in order to avoid damaging the scalp. If you have a dry scalp, choose a more nourishing shampoo to provide comfort. Make sure you keep this balance in mind.
