Hair mask: the expert ally in hydration, nourishment, and hair repair

Taking care of your hair with hair masks

Hair masks are a hydrating and repairing treatment that restructure the hair from the inside. More concentrated in active ingredients than a conditioner, they are the perfect treatment for repairing damaged lengths and restoring hair’s beauty and shine.

What is a hair mask?

A hair mask is a hair care product with a restorative, repairing, and hydrating action. It can help to maintain the quality of the hair and keep it healthy. A hair mask can also address a particular problem. Hair masks nourish and strengthen the hair deep down and make it silkier and easier to style. This is possible thanks to their composition: hair care products to be applied as a mask are highly concentrated in active ingredients and contain numerous strengthening agents. These include emollients, vegetable proteins, amino acids, and microproteins.

When should you put a mask on your hair?

Hair is put to the test daily. It is exposed to pollution, sunlight, and also, very often, too many aggressive treatments such as smoothing, curling, straightening, or regular chemical dyes. It is important to allow the hair to restructure and protect itself. Hair masks can therefore be used as a preventive measure, even on normal, undamaged hair or on hair in need of hydration.

Fortifying, hydrating, repairing... what are the different types of hair masks?

Choosing a mask adapted to your hair type and issues is essential. There is indeed a multitude of hair masks, adapted to different needs. There are masks for dry hair, for colored hair, or damaged hair. Here are some examples of hair masks offered by René Furterer:
● Masks for dry hair: enriched with repairing agents and shea butter, these masks are great allies in regenerating dry hair and hydrating it.
● Masks for colored hair: they help preserve the intensity of the color and fix it within the hair strand. They also make the color’s shine last longer and repair hair damaged by coloring.
● Masks for oily hair and scalps: it is often mistakenly thought that oily hair and scalps do not need to be treated with a mask. However, our shampoo-mask is ideal for regulating excess sebum and purifying the scalp.
● Mask for tightly coiled or natural hair: they soften the fiber and make detangling easier.

How do I use a hair mask?

Applying hair masks once or twice a week, on washed, damp, towel-dried hair is recommended. You should apply the mask to the lengths and tips: applying the mask to the roots can make the hair greasy. This type of application should, therefore, only be carried out on dry to very dry hair and scalps. The product should be applied for an average of five to 20 minutes; it is also possible to leave it on all night, under a warm towel, to increase the effects of the mask. The end of the application time is a good time for detangling: with a wide-toothed comb, it is easier to untangle and style hair coated in the product. To finish, simply rinse the mask off with warm water and towel-dry the hair.
