Croupier is no ordinary job. What is the world of gambling like for a young woman?
Much like many other traditionally very male environments: the girls are better, but there’s fewer of us! (laughs) It’s a relatively unknown profession, but very stimulating and rewarding. You need a lot of concentration and self-control, a keen eye and a sharp mind. You learn a lot about yourself, and the backdrop of such beautiful rooms pushes you to cultivate a certain elegance, to take care of yourself, to always be at your best, or to at least try to be!
Is it easy to look after your hair when you work nights?
It's no more difficult than when working during the day! My job requires it. I have long hair, but there's no way I can have it down at work. Proper attire is required: a three-piece suit with a bow tie and white shirt, always well-dressed, with a nice bun or ponytail. Being elegant is part of my job. The image of the establishment is at stake. The only thing that is complicated is the lack of light. Especially in the winter! I don't see daylight when I work. I start around 8pm and finish around 6am. I can't help but feel that my hair is dull, and I lose a lot of it.
