Bad hair days, tangled lengths, having dry hair is a real ordeal on a daily basis. But it doesn't have to be that way! Between poor scalp irrigation, insufficient sebum, not to mention the effects of UV rays, salt, chlorine or pollution, the causes of dry hair are numerous, but remedies are easy to remember! How to care for dry hair? Here are our tips and tricks.
To take care of your dry hair right after washing, start by leaving it alone for a while. Space out shampoo washes to give your sebum time to regain its health. It’s sebum that protects your hair from external aggressions! For those for whom this feels like a mountain or those who have roots that re-grease quickly, a little bit of dry shampoo will allow you to wait a few days longer. Choose the right shampoo for you: gentle formulas with natural active ingredients with strong nutritional properties such as shea butter. Avoid aggressive, stripping, or greasy formulas: your scalp is not a hotplate! They will only make your hair even drier.
Once you’ve washed your hair gently and massaged your scalp, it’s time to take care of your lengths with a hair mask for dry hair. Start by detangling your damp, towel-dried hair before applying the mask, then spread it through strand by strand using a comb. Be careful, masks should be applied directly to the hair, not the scalp! Again, opt for nourishing formulas based on natural ingredients like shea butter to treat dry hair.

Make the most of this time to give yourself a break. To maximize the effect of the nourishing mask, wrap a warm towel or turban around your hair while waiting. A diva look and a moment to yourself! The heat will help the scales gently lift, allowing the nutritious active ingredients to penetrate to the heart of the fiber. Leave on for the specified time. Then rinse with cold water to close the scales and dry out your hair as gently as possible, using a diffuser dryer or an appliance at the lowest temperature setting to avoid damaging your dry hair even more.

A few quick gestures can easily help your hair get a moisture boost when you’re short on time. Day creams, leave-in products, nourishing oils: these formulas can be applied to wet or dry hair to protect and tame dry hair, help with styling, while nourishing it at the same time! They provide your dry hair with essential fatty acids and precious proteins that will restore suppleness and strength. Look for formulas that contain shea butter or shea oil. Our Karité Nutri or Karité Hydra ranges, depending on your hair type, have what it takes to help the most dehydrated hair!
Finally, don’t forget to protect your hair as much as possible, especially if you go out in the sun. A little sun protection and a nice hat will make all the difference on dry hair. If your hair comes into chlorine or sea, it must also be protected with suitable care products. Otherwise, beware of dry hair when you return from vacation!
